Import email messages to the repository

You can import the .msg messages to the repository as dm_document type or its subtypes. The imported .msg messages cannot be edited.

To import email messages to the repository:

  1. In Microsoft Outlook, do one of these:

    • Drag and drop one or more email messages to a location in Webtop. Skip to Step 4

    • Save one or more email messages to a location on your computer.

  2. In Webtop, navigate to the repository location to which you must import the email messages.

  3. Select File > Import, click Add Files, select an email message, and click OK. To add multiple email messages, repeat the sequence. Click Next.

  4. Set properties as described in Table 3.1. If you are importing more than one email message, click Next, and set properties for each message individually.

    You cannot change this property.

    Name

    You cannot change this property. By default, the name is the subject of the email. To change the name, set the value of override-object-name to true in app.xml.

    Type

    By default, the type for email messages is dm_document. You can also import as subtypes of dm_document type.

    Format

    You cannot change this property.

    Lifecycle ID

    To assign a lifecycle to the email message, click Select, and assign the lifecycle.

  5. Click Finish.

    Note

    If Webtop is configured to separate the email attachments, you can view the attachments in the original import location. To view the attachments, select Tools > Preferences > Show Hidden Files.
