AZERBAIJAN
The outcomes of the consultation to define the indicators and track records able to demonstrate the effect of judicial reforms in Azerbaijan were presented with the Report “Consultations to define the indicators and track records able to demonstrate the effect of judicial reforms in Azerbaijan,” prepared by two European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) experts. ARMENIA A joint event dedicated to the launch of the new website of the Constitutional Court and the 26th Anniversary of Founding of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia was held in February by the Constitutional Court and our joint European Union/Council of Europe project. The objective is to make the work of the Constitutional Court more transparent and accessible. The application of mediation in Armenia was the subject of the round table organised for mediators, lawyers and judges from different court instances and Ministry of Justice representatives. The event allowed an exchange on the current challenges in the field of mediation and steps to be undertaken in further promoting its application in the country in the light of the Council of Europe standards and best practice of the member states. GEORGIA The report “Remote Court Hearings in Criminal Cases in Georgia" was presented to justice professionals and representatives of the Ministry of Justice and academia, focusing on advantages and disadvantages of remote hearing in criminal proceedings, including recommendations to the authorities. REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA A competition on courts’ performance, aiming at discovering and highlighting innovative and efficient practices on the functioning of justice, judicial procedures and the courts’ organisation will be conducted for the first time in the country with the support of the CEPEJ and our project. More than 98 judicial staff in the country strengthened their knowledge on national and international remedies in cases of discrimination through an online training held in March. |
