Action against Trafficking in Human Beings
Newsletter September - December 2020
Version française
The Secretary General of the Council of Europe recently announced the four-year strategic framework of the Organisation, which includes the fight against human trafficking among the key priorities for its longer-term mission.

Due to the restrictions posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, GRETA adapted its activities in 2020 and rescheduled its calendar of country evaluation visits. With a renewed composition in 2021, GRETA will continue the third evaluation round of the Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, which focuses on victims’ access to justice and effective remedies. The publication of GRETA’s Guidance Note on preventing and combating human trafficking for the purpose of labour exploitation should lead to commencing work on a Committee of Ministers’ recommendation on this issue. A conference on child trafficking will be organised under the German Presidency of the Committee of Ministers, in May 2021. Capacity building activities will continue with the aim of improving the criminal justice response to human trafficking.

We look forward to continuing our efforts in collaboration with our national and international partners, with a renewed resolve and energy in 2021!
