International Anti-Corruption Day
9 December 2017

2017: a dark year on the anti-corruption front, said the President of the Council of Europe´s anti-corruption body [...]. The same day, he addressed the Venice Commission, stressing the importance of cooperation between both bodies.
GRECO issued a critical assessment of the Parliamentary Assembly's integrity framework
and the Code of Conduct for Assembly members was revised

GRECO published an assessment of the Code of Conduct for Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), in which it identifies significant shortcomings and points out the need for a number of improvements.

PACE then adopted a revised Code of Conduct for its members, inspired by GRECO’s Recommendations.

Robert FICO, Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic
GRECO 77
Strasbourg, 16-18 October 2017

At its 77th Plenary Meeting, GRECO adopted a series of decisions. It also held an exchange of views with His Excellency Mr Robert FICO, Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic.
GRECO 78
Strasbourg, 4-8 December 2017

GRECO 78's decisions are now available. They include the adoption of several evaluation/compliance reports, the Programme of Activities 2018 and much more. 
Study on Corruption in private sector
GRECO published a summary Analysis of selected private sector bribery cases.

GRECO published an assessment of the framework to prevent corruption and address conflicts of interest of the Council of Europe's Conference of International Non-Governmental Organisations (INGOs).
PRAGUE Conference
9-10 November 2017

GRECO and the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic organised a conference in Prague to discuss stepping up the implementation of measures to prevent corruption in respect of members of parliament, judges and prosecutors in European states. Participants examined trends and best practices as well as a new study summarising the main conclusions of GRECO's country evaluations (see opposite).

GRECO's 4th Evaluation Round Conclusions

On the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the 20 Guiding Principles for the Fight against Corruption, GRECO published a study on “Corruption Prevention of Members of Parliament, Judges and Prosecutors”. The Report was officially presented at the Conference in Prague on 9-10 November (see opposite).

GRECO organised jointly with OECD and UNODC, a side event on “Interests and asset disclosures by public officials: what works and what does not? Latest insights from anti-corruption monitoring bodies”.
