Central Asia: facilitating regional dialogue to modernise public administration
The Council of Europe and the European Union continue to promote efficient functioning of state institutions and public administration in Central Asia. This was reiterated during a 2-day regional conference “Modernisation of the public administration in Central Asia and respect of the rule of law principles” which was organised by the Venice Commission in co-operation with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the framework of the joint EU/CoE Central Asia Rule of Law Programme on 12-13 May 2022 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

A public lecture on the European Convention on Human Rights for 45 students of the law faculty of Tajikistan
National University and one-day seminar for 27 Tajikistan’s lawyers on the right to a fair trial in the case law of the European Court of Human Rights marked the launch of co-operation with Tajikistan in this area. A series of meetings with authorities allowed to discuss human rights training and expertise-sharing activities to be organised in Tajikistan in 2022.
