The Central Asia Rule of Law Programme was extended until June 2024. This extension will allow further strengthening of co-operation with partner institutions in Central Asia and the implementation of specific activities to support them in the reinforcement of human rights, the rule of law and democracy.

Seminar on individual application procedure for judges and lawyers

in Kazakhstan and the important role of the Constitutional Court in protecting citizens' rights. The judges and lawyers had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with best practices and lessons learnt from Council of Europe member states with a well-established system of individual complaints by citizens to Constitutional Courts.

HELP Network Conference

A delegation of 18 legal professionals from Central Asia attended the annual HELP Network Conference, which provided a
platform for them to discuss and disseminate the results and valuable lessons learnt from the successful implementation of HELP courses in their respective countries.

European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) is the main educational platform of the Council of Europe for legal professionals, covering various Council of Europe Conventions.

International conference “Constitutional Justice: Dignity, Freedom and Justice for all"

The conference was attended by high-level representatives of Constitutional Courts from more than 20 countries, as well as representatives of international bodies such as UNDP, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, OSCE, GIZ and IRZ.

The aim of the event was to provide a platform for discussion among legal professionals and to promote best practices in the field of constitutional justice. During the conference, a variety of subjects were discussed, namely the role of constitutional control in promoting the values of human rights protection, the efficiency of constitutional control, as regards the respect of the rule of law standards, citizens’ access to justice and equal opportunities.

Enhancing business integrity and compliance of the private sector in Central Asia
11-13 July 2023, Strasbourg (France)

The regional workshop on was attended by representatives of the public institutions, business associations and chambers of commerce from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. It aimed at raising awareness on good practices in promoting and enhancing business integrity and anti-corruption compliance in the private sector.

Supporting the anti-corruption compliance in the private sector
5-8 September 2023, Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan)

The training of trainers was attended by over 30 private sector representatives, including business associations, small and medium-sized enterprises, and corporations.
The event aimed at improving the understanding of corporate anti-corruption legislation and the tools available to prevent corporate corruption and promote good corporate governance.
