9th Annual Advisory Forum on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe (Sibiu, Romania)
On 2-4 October 2019, the 9th Cultural Routes Annual Advisory Forum took place in Sibiu, Romania. The event was organised by the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe (EPA) in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism of Romania.
Evaluation cycle 2019-2020: 8 “Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe” under regular 3-year evaluation; 3 cultural route networks applying for certification
The Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe are all subject of regular monitoring and three-year evaluation procedure through independent expert report and recommendations to assess conformity with Council of Europe Committee of Minister Resolution CM/Res(2013)67.
New Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe 2020 brochure and leaflet now available
The new 2020 editions of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe brochure and leaflet have been published, also available online for download.
Belarus: Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe presented at the Conference “Conclusion, Observance and Interpretation of International Treaties”
On 20 September, the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe Programme was presented at the Conference “Conclusion, Observance and Interpretation of International Treaties” which was organised in Minsk, Belarus, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Council of Europe.
Switzerland: Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe presented at the Middle East Mediterranean Summer Summit Forum 2019
On 24 August, the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe Programme was presented at the Forum of the Middle East Mediterranean MEM Summer Summit 2019 which was organized in Lugano, Switzerland, by the Università della Svizzera Italiana.
Switzerland: the Federal Office of Culture hosts a coordination meeting with national managers of the Cultural Routes
On 23 August, a coordination meeting with the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe crossing Switzerland took place at the Swiss Federal Office of Culture in Bern, Switzerland.
The European Union External Service (EEAS) promotes the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe in China
On 17 August, an exhibition showcasing the 38 Cultural Routes certified by the Council of Europe opened at Changchun Library, in Changchun (Jilin Province), People’s Republic of China.
Vademecum on Sources of Funding for the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe (EICR, 2019)
The Vademecum on Sources of Funding for the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe has been published online for download in English. The Vademecum has been prepared by the European Institute of Cultural Routes and presents a catalogue of available funding sources for Cultural Routes with a special emphasis on European Union funding programmes in the cultural, educational and local development sectors. The book is completed with a collection of Good Practices in accessing funding by the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe in recent years.

On 27 August, the EPA Secretariat and EICR staff met with Mr. Thomas DAHMS, Mr. Alberto D’ALESSANDRO, Mr. Luigi ZOPPELLO and Mr. Flavio FOIETTA, representatives of the “Via Romea Germanica” European Cultural Route project at the EICR Headquarters in Luxembourg.
Via Memoria Mauthausen, Cultural Route project: meeting in Luxembourg
On 28 August, the EPA Secretariat and EICR staff met with Mr. Guy DOCKENDORF, Ms. Ingrid BAUZ and Mr. Dario VENEGONI, representatives of the “Via Memoria Mauthausen” European Cultural Route project at the EICR Headquarters in Luxembourg.
Forte Cultura, Cultural Route project: meeting in Luxembourg
On 3 September, the EPA Secretariat and EICR staff met with Mr. Dirk RÖDER, representative of the “Forte Cultura” European Cultural Route project at the EICR Headquarters in Luxembourg.
Nikola Tesla Network, Cultural Route project: meeting in Luxembourg
On 4 September, the EPA Secretariat and EICR staff met with Mr. Ivan RADOŠEVIĆ and Ms. Dubravka DAVIDOVIĆ, representatives of the “Nikola Tesla Network” European Cultural Route project at the EICR Headquarters in Luxembourg. Ms. Alma LJUBIĆ, Minister Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in the Kingdom of Belgium, and with Mr. Jacques MATTEI, consultant for the Nikola Tesla Network, also participated in the meeting.

The VR application developed by the Antiquity Commission of Westphalia in cooperation with Bremen University of Applied Sciences makes it possible to virtually immerse oneself in the time of megalithics.
Liberation Route Europe: Ambassadors Cycling Tour
On August 29, USA Ambassador to the Netherlands, Pete HOEKSTRA, cycled along the Liberation Route Europe along with fellow ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from Belgium, New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Poland, Germany and Luxembourg.
Iron Curtain Trail: Pilgrims Route Project final conference
On 25-26 September, the European Cycling Federation managing the certified Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe “Iron Curtain Trail” held the final conference of the “Pilgrims Route Project” entitled “Cycling and Cultural Tourism, the Perfect Match”. The conference was hosted by Saint James’s Pilgrims Museum in Santiago de Compostela.
Phoenician’s Route: Days of the Spanish Network in Lebanon
On 25-28 September, the “Days of the Spanish Network of the Phoenicians’ Route in Lebanon” took place with exhibitions and cultural exchanges in Beirut and Byblos, Lebanon.
