Secretary General,
President of the Parliamentary Assembly,
Ambassador Tarasyuk,
Excellencies,
Dear colleagues,
Tomorrow marks the second anniversary of the start of the Russian Federation’s full-scale war of aggression against Ukraine. It is unimaginable what the people of Ukraine have had to endure. We honour their unbreakable spirit.
In Reykjavik, our Heads of State and Government reaffirmed their strong solidarity with Ukraine and its people. Collectively, they called on the Russian Federation to comply with its international obligations and to immediately withdraw completely and unconditionally its forces from Ukraine. Both, supporting Ukraine and advancing efforts to ensure accountability for the crimes committed by the Russian Federation remain high on all of our agendas.
With continued attacks on civilian objects, including schools and hospitals, lives of children are massively affected by this war. Our leaders underlined their particular concern about the killings, injuries and sexual abuse of children, the unlawful transfers of Ukrainian children. All these crimes must be investigated and perpetrators must be held to account.
As the Russian Federation’s full-scale aggression is entering its third year, and as we also mark the 10th anniversary of the illegal annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol by the Russian Federation, we reiterate our strong and clear condemnation of these illegal and unjustified acts, and our unwavering support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders.
Let me ensure you of Liechtenstein’s continued solidarity with Ukraine and its people, both in our national capacity and in our role as the current Presidency of the Committee of Ministers.
Thank you.
