Launching Conference of the Council of Europe Platform on Children's Rights

Description: The event will mark the launch of the Council of Europe platform on children's rights.
The Platform comprises a network of governmental focal points and representatives of civil society, ombudspersons, international organisations, and researchers.
Priority item on the agenda will be the discussion on the draft Council of Europe guidelines on integrated national strategies for the protection of children against violence. Topics to be covered include in particular, child-friendly services, prevention and monitoring of violence against children and ways of building a culture of children’s rights.
Council of Europe Deputy Secretary General Maud de Boer-Buquicchio is due to speak at the opening ceremony on 2 June at 09.30.
Thomas Hammarberg, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Marta Santos Pais, UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative on Violence against Children and Jaep Doek, former Chair of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child are also among the conference speakers.
Experts from Croatia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom will share their experiences in the protection of children against violence.
