EXTENSION OF THE SPECIAL ACCOUNT

"Human Dignity and Social Exclusion"

1. The Deputies authorised the Secretary General to open a special account entitled "Human Dignity and Social Exclusion" at their 525th meeting (11 January 1995, item 6.2) and fixed the closing date of the account at 31 March 1998.

2. At their 525th meeting the Deputies "decided that this account would serve to cover the expenses incurred in preparing a European report on poverty and the subsequent action plan..."

This report as well as the action plan will be presented at a Conference in Helsinki which was scheduled for 12-14 March 1998 but has now been fixed for 18-20 May 1998.

3. The special account enables the preparation of the Conference, the subsidising of participants at the Conference and the launching of the plan of action. Accordingly it is proposed that the special account be extended to 31 December 1998.

Decision

The Deputies authorised the extension of the duration of the special account entitled "Human Dignity and Social Exclusion" until 31 December 1998.
