ANNUAL ADJUSTMENT OF THE ALLOWANCES/SUPPLEMENTS EXPRESSED

IN ABSOLUTE VALUE AT 1 JANUARY 2021

CCR Report (273rd Report)

1.         Introduction

1.1       On 24 March 2016, the CCR adopted the 242nd Report [CCR/R(2016)5][2] which governs the method of adjustment for the allowances/supplements expressed in absolute value: i.e. the basic family allowance, the dependent child allowance, the dependent child supplement, the expatriated child allowance, the handicapped child allowance, the supplements for disabled or severely disabled child, the dependent person’s allowance and the supplement for disabled and dependent parent.

1.2       In accordance with Article 5.1 of the 242nd Report, the monthly amount of the allowances/supplements expressed in absolute value in force in Belgium shall be adjusted by means of the weighted average trend, during the reference period, of the monthly dependent child allowance amounts in the reference countries referred to in the salary adjustment method set out in the 244th Report [CCR/R(2016)7], i.e. Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain and the United Kingdom.

1.3       In accordance with Article 5.2 of the 242nd Report, for all other countries, the purchasing power parities are applied to the monthly amount for Belgium in order to ensure equivalency of the amount in each duty country within the Co-ordinated system.

2.         Conclusions

2.1       Position of the CRSG

The CRSG welcomes the CCR recommendation that reflects the strict application of the current method of adjustment for the allowances/supplements expressed in absolute value.
