Action

The Deputies are invited to hold an exchange of views on the progress of the Campaign in the presence of the Secretariat members responsible for running it.

————————————————

The "Europe, a common heritage" Campaign was launched in the wake of the Second Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Council of Europe, which had suggested waging such a Campaign in order to increase awareness among the peoples of Europe of the riches and diversity of their common heritage.

Document CM(2000)19 contains up-to-date information on the action taken in the context of the Campaign, the organisational arrangements and the projects being prepared.

A document setting out the final programme and the timetable for the Campaign will be drawn up following the meeting of Chairs of national committees or equivalent working bodies which is to take place in Strasbourg on 23 February 2000.

The Deputies are invited to hold an exchange of views on the Campaign, with the participation of the Secretariat members of staff responsible for it.

They are reminded that an initial exchange of views of this kind took place on 14 October 1999 at a meeting of the Rapporteur Group on Education, Culture and Sport (see synopsis of the meeting, GR-C(99)24).
