Basic information about the national training seminar

The Youth Department of the Council of Europe, in co-operation with the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Ukraine and Roma non-governmental partners, will organise a national training seminar for Roma and non-Roma young people who can act as multipliers in their communities and/or their regions. The training seminar will support the participation and mobilisation of young multipliers to work for combating antigypsyism and for supporting Roma young people’s participation on the local level and in youth policy processes. The training seminar will be held in Odessa, Ukraine, in November 2016 from 3 to 7 and will bring together 30 participants from Ukraine.

In 2015, a first seminar was organised with Roma young people in Kiev. The meeting put the basis of a process of mobilisation of Roma young people and for youth policies to become more aware of specific Roma youth issues.

The seminar will support the mobilisation of Roma youth and youth organisations from Ukraine for their involvement in mainstreaming Roma in the Ukrainian youth policy at national and local levels.

The objectives of the training seminar are to:

·         strengthen Roma youth participation and cooperation between Roma and non-Roma youth organisations in Ukraine;

Profile of participants

The participants in the training seminar must be young people from organisations or youth community groups, for example from Roma youth organisations or youth organisations working with young Roma, from Ukraine who can also act as multipliers.

All candidates must also be:

-          young multipliers from organisations or informal youth groups or active people in their communities, for example from Roma youth organisations or youth organisations working with young Roma or active individual members of the Roma community;

-          aged 18 to 35 (exceptions are possible);

-          residents in Ukraine;

-          motivated to work for the participation of young Roma in their communities and for combating antigypsyism;

-          in a position to multiply what they learn in the training course in their communities, for example by carrying out initiatives with young Roma;

-          strongly connected with a local Roma community;

-          strongly connected with a local Roma community or interested to involve Roma young people;

-          available to arrive at the venue of the training course on 3th November till 14:00 and to leave on 8th November morning.

How to apply

In order to apply, interested candidates must fill in the application form attached. They also need to attach a support letter from their organisation (when they are representing an organisation), what is their role and possibilities to multiply what they learnt in their organisation or institution is clearly stated.

Conditions

The training course will be organised in Ukrainian. Romanes may be used as working language for working groups during the seminar.

National travel costs, accommodation and meals will be covered by organisers. Participants must arrive at the course venue on 3th November till 14:00 and to leave on 8th November morning.
