TO RECOMMENDATION 12 (1995)
ON LOCAL DEMOCRACY IN ROMANIA
OF THE CONGRESS OF LOCAL AND REGIONAL AUTHORITIES OF EUROPE (CLRAE)
The Committee of Ministers took note of Recommendation 12 (1995) on local democracy in Romania.
The Committee of Ministers welcomes the reforms in relation to local self-government in Romania and the development of local democracy in this country, as well as the fact that Romanian Ministers Mr Ghiorghi PRISACARU, Secretary of State of the Romanian Government and Mr Remus OPRIS, Minister for Local Government, have addressed the Congress respectively on 4 July 1996 and 3 June 1997 to provide it with information and brief it on the actions taken in the field.
The Committee of Ministers wishes to inform the Congress that it will examine the fundamental questions of local democracy in the framework of its monitoring of the respect of obligations by States members of the Council of Europe.
