Report on the self-government regions in the Slovak Republic
Follow-up to CLRAE Recommendation 88 (2001) on local and regional democracy in the Slovak Republic

Decisions
The Deputies
1. took note of the Report on the self-government regions in the Slovak Republic prepared by their Rapporteur on Local and Regional Authorities (RAP-LOC), as it appears in RAP-LOC(2002)1 and Corrigendum and approved the general conclusions as contained in paragraph 23;
2. agreed to transmit it for information to the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of Europe (CLRAE), to the Steering Committee on Local and Regional Democracy (CDLR), to the Committee of Experts of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages and to the Advisory Committee of the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities;
3. agreed to make the present Report public;
4. agreed to transmit Recommendation 88 (2001) to the governmental and parliamentary authorities of the Slovak Republic and to bear it in mind in the context of their thematic monitoring on local democracy;
5. agreed to transmit Recommendation 88 (2001) to the Steering Committee on Local and Regional Democracy (CDLR) for information;
6. invited the Secretary General to take it into account when preparing any relevant co-operation programmes with Slovakia;
7. adopted the following reply to the Recommendation 88 (2001):
“The Committee of Ministers has considered Recommendation 88 (2001) on local and regional democracy in the Slovak Republic. It agreed to transmit it to the governmental and parliamentary authorities of the Slovak Republic and to bear it in mind in the context of its thematic monitoring on local democracy. In addition, the Committee of Ministers is transmitting this Recommendation to the Steering Committee on Local and Regional Democracy (CDLR).
The Committee of Ministers had also asked its Rapporteur on Local and Regional Authorities to study the questions linked to Recommendation 88 (2001) and to report back, which he did in the form of a report, which the Committee of Ministers agreed to transmit to the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of Europe and to the CDLR for information.”
